Replicator Dual Extrusion Machine

The Replicator is a 3D printer made by the MakerBot® Industries. This is a high performance FDM 3D printer with two printing heads. The dual extruders are capable of printing two materials at the same time, or two colors at the same time. It has a large big heated build platform to enable builds using ABS.

Our replicator 1 has been extensively upgraded, with steel arms and runs the SailFish firmware for superior print quality and speed. We commonly print at 100 micron, 150 micron, and 200 micron resolution per layer in both ABS and PLA.

The Replicator used to be hosted, but was purchased and is now owned by the Hackerspace.

Replicator Settings

To use the Replicator, you will need software to slice and save an .x3g file to an SD card. Please use one of the following two software packages:

[Simplify 3D] is $140, and has "plug and play" ready settings to use the Replicator.

[Cura 4.0] is free and open source software, and you will need to install a plug-in from the Cura Marketplace as well as change the start/end GCODE for the machine.
