General Meeting of the Membership
- 2/22/2011, 7:30PM
We currently have enough membership dues coming in that -- if we stay at these membership numbers -- we will have a $600 surplus and a spending budget next month!
AT&T disconnected our office phone because it couldn’t charge the assigned credit card because it was reported stolen. We’ve already scheduled it to be reconnected; they should have it back up tomorrow. Have your cell phone with you at the space in case of emergencies.
We’ve been invited to submit an application for the Ford F150 “Ultimate Workshop” truck-hacking challenge. The theme for the truck is to build a mobile workshop. They are looking for the hackerspace’s dream workshop.
The budget for this project is $30,000! They will give us a truck and 60 days to complete our alterations. They will buy the supplies for us, so we must include everything in our proposal.
They have propositioned 60 groups, and there will be 10 winners.
- We cannot chop, hack or mechanically remove the power train.
- Things CAN be attached to the power train.
- Modifications can be made to any non-structural part of the body of the truck. (They’d prefer that it still look like the original truck.
- We should follow their stated theme of “mobile workshop.”
Other than these things, they don’t have any rules. A trailer attached to the truck would be valid!
Martin will put out the call to do the walls, ceiling and floor this Saturday. Be looking for an email on the list.
SXSW and Dorkbot
Laura (from Dorkbot) sent emails out last Friday to all who have signed up for booths. If you haven’t received an email, let her know.
Martin says we should throw a party for SXSW. Do we have any volunteers to organize an event?
